The Historic Star

The Historic Star Theatre in downtown Stuart, Virginia has been a long-standing community landmark since 1947 and has gone through multiple chapters of restoration and reuse over the decades. When One Family Productions reopened the theatre in 2024 as a community arts venue, they needed a refreshed brand that could honor the building’s legacy while supporting its next phase as a flexible, active space for performances and events.

I designed a new visual identity inspired by the theatre’s iconic marquee, translating its distinctive glow and lettering into a custom logotype. From there, I built out a supporting set of icons, print materials, digital templates, and a website that carry the brand across touchpoints. The system blends references to the theatre’s history—like film reels and stage masks—with elements tied to its present-day programming, while giving the organization practical tools to promote events consistently across print and digital platforms.
